Duo Piano / Trumpet of Emil Viklicky and Miroslav Bukovsky
Visiting Czech pianist, Emil Viklicky, celebrated throughout Europe and also well known in the USA and Asia, will be joining the great jazz trumpeter Miroslav Bukovsky for an evening of duets at the ANU Drill Hall Gallery on Friday 2 November at 7 – 8.30 pm.
The duo will subsequently be appearing at the Wangarratta Jazz festival.
Emil Viklicky has composed and performed for Wynton Marsalis’s Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra.
His music is multi-idiomatic, ranging from classical themes (Janacek, Fibich), Bohemian and Moravian folk music and jazz improvisation.
Surrounded by a spectacular array of large-scale Western Desert paintings, the richness of sound will be amazingly intensified by the exceptional ambience, that will no doubt inspire these two highly creative improvisers.
